Meet the Experts: Jisha Jose
Learn more about Jisha Jose, Consultant at October Three, as we explore her career, accomplishments, drive to improve processes, appreciation for peers, and more.
1. What do you find most unique about working at October Three?
What stands out most to me is the people. There’s a genuine sense that people care about you, both personally and professionally. You’re encouraged to ask questions, keep learning, and collaborate across the firm. Because October Three is still growing, there are also a lot of opportunities to take on new challenges and grow
2. How did you get into this industry?
I majored in actuarial science in college because I’ve always enjoyed math, especially statistics. At the time, I knew a little about the industry but wanted to learn more, so I attended my school’s actuarial career fair and met people from a variety of companies and practice areas, including retirement and insurance. When I came across October Three, I was really drawn to its startup-like culture and approach. During the interview process, I quickly noticed that the people here were humble, hungry, and smart. They weren’t just focused on doing their jobs day to day — they were focused on building something meaningful. In 2018, when the Pension Risk Transfer division was launched at October Three, I had the opportunity to join the team about a year later, and I’ve been involved ever since.
3. What's one project or achievement you're particularly proud of?
I’m especially proud of being part of the PRT team and helping build the business. Having the chance to see the growth of the division from the early stages has been incredibly rewarding. It’s pushed me to think beyond my day-to-day responsibilities and take on more of an entrepreneurial mindset — asking how we can improve our processes, serve clients better, and continue growing the business in meaningful ways.
4. What's one thing you wish others could know about your role?
One thing people may not realize is how important it is for our team to stay closely connected to the market. In addition to our client work, the PRT team publishes the Pension Risk Transfer Update each month. Because the PRT market is constantly evolving and highly sensitive to economic conditions, it’s critical that we stay on top of what’s happening in real time. That knowledge helps us provide stronger insights and better service to our clients.
5. What's a book, podcast, or other resource you'd recommend to others, and why?
Honestly, I’d say your peers. Everyone brings a different background, perspective, and story, and there’s so much you can learn just by taking the time to engage with them. Whether the conversation is work-related or personal, asking questions and getting to know your colleagues can be one of the most valuable learning opportunities you have.
6. What's a skill or hobby you have outside of work? Have you applied any lessons or knowledge from your skills or hobbies in your role at October Three?
One hobby I enjoy is doing puzzles. I think puzzles have actually shaped the way I approach my work. They teach patience, attention to detail, and the importance of stepping back to see the bigger picture. Sometimes one piece doesn’t make sense right away, but with time and persistence, it starts to fit. That mindset applies to my role as well, especially when working through complex client issues or building better processes.
