Meet the Experts: Beau Cork

Learn more about Beau Cork, Retirement Strategist at October Three, as we explore his career, accomplishments, love of sports, running, and more.

1. What do you find most unique about working at October Three?

What’s most unique about working at October Three is the combination of expertise and genuinely great people. We’re not just pushing plans on people. We’re building thoughtful, well-designed strategies that can truly impact someone’s future. Clear answers come from clear conversations, and that only works because the team is both incredibly smart and incredibly supportive. It creates a culture of hungry, humble, and smart people that makes the work meaningful every day.

2. How did you get into this industry?

I actually started my career working in the oilfields in Alaska, and over time, I realized I wanted a different path in life. My brother-in-law and I launched a tech company, which helped me transition out of the oilfield and into sales. After the company was acquired, I found myself looking for my next opportunity and came across October Three. I had prior exposure to the retirement industry, but once I started learning more about Cash Balance and Market-Based Cash Balance plans, I was genuinely excited about the complexity and impact of the work I'd be involved in. It felt like the perfect place to combine my sales background with strategic plan design in a way that truly helps business owners and professionals.

3. What's one project or achievement you're particularly proud of?

One achievement I’m particularly proud of at October Three is helping build and refine our outbound strategy to engage with decision makers at law firms and professional service firms. Breaking into that audience takes thoughtful messaging, persistence, and a strong understanding of plan design. Being able to leverage our data, tailor conversations around Market-Based Cash Balance Strategies, and consistently create meaningful opportunities for our consulting team has been incredibly rewarding.

4. What's one thing you wish others could know about your role?

One thing I wish people knew about the role is how much happens before a meeting is ever booked. The process of calculated outreach is almost a game of strategy, researching, refining messaging, and staying persistent. When it’s done right, it leads to meaningful conversations and real relationships with clients, not just selling something.

5. What's a book, podcast, or other resource you'd recommend to others, and why?

A book I’d recommend is $100M Offers by Alex Hormozi. It completely reframed how I think about value, not just in sales, but in how you position solutions to genuinely solve problems. It specifically emphasizes clarity, specificity, and building offers that are so compelling they make the decision easy. That mindset translates well beyond business development and into how you communicate, negotiate, and create real impact.

6. What's a skill or hobby you have outside of work? Have you applied any lessons or knowledge from your skills or hobbies in your role at October Three?

Outside of work, I’m an avid runner and love sports. I’ve run marathons, I’m currently training for my first Ironman, and I’m a lifelong fan of the Seattle Seahawks. Endurance training has taught me discipline and how to stay persistent until you hit your goal, which translates directly into my role at October Three. In outreach, that same persistence means continuing the conversation until you hear “no,” “not now,” or “let’s talk more about this,” and my favorite one to hear is definitely “let’s talk more about this.”
